Member Ethics & Conduct Agreement

Membership in PHCC of Washington (PHCCWA) is a privilege that carries both rights and responsibilities. This agreement outlines the ethical standards, conduct expectations, and obligations of all members. By becoming or renewing as a member, I agree to the following terms:

1. Confidentiality & Use of Information

  • I understand that all member-only information, resources, directories, communications, and discussions provided by PHCCWA are intended solely for the benefit of members.
  • I will not share, reproduce, or distribute member-only materials, recordings, or communications with non-members without prior written approval from PHCCWA.
  • I will use PHCCWA directories, forums, and communication tools for professional networking and collaboration only, not for solicitation, spamming, or resale of information.

2. Professional Conduct & Respect

  • I will treat all members, staff, and partners with respect, professionalism, and courtesy.
  • I will avoid any behavior that could be considered harassment, discrimination, or intimidation, whether in person, online, or through association channels.
  • I will contribute to creating a collaborative environment that supports the mission and values of PHCCWA.

3. Integrity & Responsibility

  • I will act with honesty and integrity in all interactions associated with PHCCWA.
  • I will not misrepresent my membership status, credentials, or business practices.
  • I will refrain from conduct that could damage the reputation of PHCCWA or its members.

4. Conflicts of Interest

  • I will disclose any potential conflict of interest when participating in PHCCWA activities, committees, or leadership roles.
  • I will not use my membership, access, or leadership position for personal or commercial gain beyond the intended benefits of membership.

5. Representation of PHCCWA

  • I understand that I may not speak, act, or represent PHCCWA publicly without authorization from the association’s leadership.
  • I will ensure that my actions and communications reflect positively on the association and the plumbing-heating-cooling industry.

6. Compliance & Accountability

  • I understand that violations of this agreement may result in disciplinary action, up to and including suspension or termination of membership, as determined by PHCCWA’s Board of Directors or Executive Committee.
  • I acknowledge that PHCCWA reserves the right to update this agreement as needed, and that continued membership constitutes agreement to the most current version.

Member Violation & Disciplinary Process

Initial Review

Reported or observed violations of this agreement will be reviewed by the PHCCWA Executive Committee or Board of Directors.

Types of Violations
  • Minor Violations (e.g., unprofessional conduct, misuse of communication channels): Member may receive one written warning with clear corrective actions.
  • Serious Violations (e.g., sharing member-only information with non-members, harassment, misrepresentation, unethical business practices, or actions that harm PHCCWA): May result in immediate suspension or termination of membership, without prior warning.
Right to Respond

The member will be given an opportunity to provide a written response before final disciplinary action is determined.

Board Authority

The PHCCWA Board of Directors and/or Executive Committee reserves full authority to determine consequences, including warning, suspension, or termination of membership.

Decisions of the Board and/or Executive Committee are final.
