PHCC West Convention 2003

This year Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona and Nevada participated in the 5 states PHCC West Convention held at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe Resort in South Lake Tahoe. Multi-state conventions like this seem to be growing with great enthusiasm. Each day of the convention, outdoor activities were graced with snowfall. This gave many convention attendees the opportunity to have some fun skiing/snowboarding at this outstanding Lake Tahoe resort.

While it continued to snow outside Harrah’s, the excitement inside grew as key note speaker Dr. Lawrence Helms, PhD, addressed the convention and continued a workshop called Tough times Don’t Last- Tough People Do. Where he helped us to understand how it is “That it’s not your fault, but it is your problem”. Through the week, attendees were able to attend several other workshops including a New Construction Forum, Succession Planning and the Service and Repair Round Table. Those able to attend also enjoyed seminars on How to Build A Referral Business and Immigrant & Ethnic works by Bob Losyk. Our own Jim Stack, along with Jo Wagner were able to address the attendees regarding their candidacy for PHCC National VP also.

Back outside the hotel, the Golf Tournament was held down in the valley. Although avoided most of the snow, the die-hard golfers endured rain and wind gusts up to 50 mph. I have a hard enough time driving a golf ball straight down the fairway – I cannot imagine attempting to deal with weather condition like this. PHCC members certainly don’t just work hard, but they play hard too.

At the closing dinner we were treated to the entertainment of Big Joy, and she smothered Jim Stack with her loving.

Everyone in attendance had an abundance of fun while being able to widen their networking possibilities and make new friends from around the Western states. A huge thanks goes out to Linda Lindsten of Oregon PHCC and Tracey Smith of California PHCC for organizing the even, while our own Cyndi Folk and Marlene McGinnis took charge of the registration duties as well as function support. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to attend next year’s convention. Each year prove to be better than the last. Give yourself a special treat and start planning for next year’s event.

PHCC-West is planned for Phoenix Arizona in May, 2004.
