November 14, 2007: It Ain't Easy Being Green
It seems the latest craze is being green and environmentally friendly in anyway possible. Obviously, the more conscious we are about our surroundings and how we have an affect on them, the bigger the difference we will make. Sometimes it is easier to think, "What difference can I make." Just as easily though, we can consider how simple it is to contribute to improving our lives within out surrounds.
On November 15th, and 27th, we will be joined by Matt Gregg with McKinstry Industries to discuss Green Plumbing. These meetings could be a great way to gain future clients. Legislation to stop illegal plumbing will be heard in the Senate Commerce, Labor and Economic Development Committee in Olympia at 1:30 on Tuesday, January 30th. This legislation - SB 5491 - is being proposed by PHCC to stop:
-
Non-plumbing general contractors from hiring certified plumbers to do their plumbing work
-
Certified plumbers moonlighting and doing work without being a registered plumbing contractor
-
Spec builders from using non-plumbers to plumb their house because the spec builder is the "owner"
If you feel it is important to protect your business and the plumbing industry, YOU need to attend this hearing and show the Senators you care. It is important that you be there to show the Senators this is important to you - if you want this legislation. Expect some in the construction industry to oppose this legislation. There will be speakers from the PHCC presenting supporting comments to the Senate Committee
The hearing will be in Senate Hearing Room 4 on the first floor of the J.A. Cherberg Building. By clicking on this link you will see a map of the area. The Cherberg Building is #4 on this map. To read up on details of this new bill, click on this link.

What is Network '06? Since 2005 when PHCC joined forces with the American Supply Association (ASA) to "Come Together" and work for the better of the industry, our PHCC National Convention title has been changed to "Network, Come Together."
Straight from the Network '06 web site: "We believe very strongly in bringing the channel partners together in a casual, but business friendly environment. Network ’06 focuses the spotlight on relationships and communication. We will once again offer spectacular networking opportunities, as well as top notch speakers and educational sessions. It’s conveniently scheduled together with ISH North America ’06 where communication can be continued with an added focus on products."
PHCC of Washington would like to have a strong presence at the convention, not only to educate yourself, but also to support our industries. We'd also like to let you know that if you are planning on attending the 2006 National Convention and have not made hotel reservation you may want to do so, soon. PHCC National is receiving pressure to open their room block to other attendees, so they need to get a handle on the number of rooms they will need. No one can afford to miss this convention – a fun and enlightening experience like this only comes once a year. To register and reserve a room, go to this web site. If you have any questions, please contact the PHCC National office at 1-800-533-7694.

This year, our executive director, Susan Dingethal, and event chairperson, Dan Allison of Puget Sound Mechanical, have scheduled the event for the end of the summer instead of the beginning. The tournament will take place on September 16, at Allenmore Golf Course in Tacoma.
As with previous years, the tournament will be followed by a mouth watering dinner at the Elks Club just around the corner from the golf course. If you have not received a registration form, or have just misplaced the one you received, click here to view the form and print it out.
For specific questions on the tournament, or to inquire about sponsorship information, email Susan Dingethal at susan@phccwa.org. She will be happy to discuss the different levels still available and what benefits come with them.
June 8, 2005: Jurisdictional Map of Washington is Online!!!
After much work to get the general setup and structure of this information completed, we are please to have the entire map of Washington online, with detailed outlines of each county.
When viewing the map, click on the county you wish to find information on, which will bring you to a more detailed list of the jurisdictions within that particular county. Click on a link and you will be able to view the contact information for that jurisdiction along with a link to their main web site. Some of the pages do provide more in depth details on the jurisdiction.
At this time, only a limited number of counties/cities are online. The time required to gather information about each jurisdiction and then create a new page for each county city gets quite lengthy. Any information you can provide regarding the local jurisdictions you work with would be appreciated. Please email the PHCCWA.org Webmaster with information you can provide.
Click here to see the jurisdictional map, or simply click the map above.
